Wooden Venetian Blind Guide
Measuring Guide
General Measuring Tips:
- For accurate measurements, use a metal tape measure.
- Always measure in millimetres.
- Choose whether you want the blinds to hang inside the recess or outside the window frame.
- Check for obstructions such as adjacent walls, furniture, or window handles when measuring.
Recess Fit – Inside Mount
This is when you want your blind to fit inside the window recess for a finished look.
Steps to Measure:
- Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in 3 places.
- Note down the shortest measurement.
- Measure the drop from the top of the recess to the window sill in 3 places.
- Note down the shortest measurement – this is the one you should use.
Important Notes:
- Standard factory allowances will be made.
Face Fit – Outside Mount
Outside mounts are fitted to the architrave and can make windows appear larger. This method is also useful for hiding unattractive architraves.
Steps to Measure:
- Measure the desired blind width where you'd like it to be mounted. Note down the measurement.
- Measure the drop: From the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom.
- Note down the measurement.
Important Notes:
- If your window doesn’t have architraves, it is recommended to add between 75 mm to 100 mm on each side to minimise light.
- No allowances will be made; the blind will be made to the exact sizes supplied.
Installation Guide
1. Bracket Placement:
- Measure where you require the blind to hang. The blind may be fitted inside or outside the recess.
- Position the end brackets for fixing (either face or top). Ensure that the brackets are fixed approximately 5 cm from the end of the blind.
- For blinds exceeding 100 cm in width, a centre bracket is required and may be positioned as needed.
- Important: Make sure not to position the brackets where they would interfere with the working mechanisms of the blind.
2. Fabric and Mechanism Attachment:
Present the blind to the bracket, ensuring the lugs position snugly under the front rim of the headrail.
- Push the locking arm until it is pressed against the headrail.
To Operate the Blind
Lowering:
- Hold the cord at eye level and move it to the left, pulling gently until the cord lock releases.
- Allow the cord to slip through your fingers until the blind reaches the desired level.
- Move the pull cord to the right and release it; the blind will lock automatically.
Raising:
- Pull the cord downward until the blind reaches the desired height.
- Release the cord; the blind locks automatically.
Tilting:
- Rotate the roto-wand on the left-hand side of the blind to adjust the slat position to your preference.
Important:
- Always tilt the blind horizontally before raising or lowering it. This helps extend the life of the blind.
