Measuring Guide

The easy way to measure for vertical blinds

Welcome to our simple guide to measuring your windows for your new vertical blinds. Measuring up is quick and easy, so let’s get started!

Inside the Frame (Recess Fit)

Vertical blinds that sit inside the frame are called recess fit.

  • Sleek and modern design.
  • Ideal for living areas.
  • Best for deep window frames with minimal obstructions.

Follow these simple steps to measure your blinds:

1. Check Your Depth

  • Ensure your window frame has enough depth to fit the blinds:
    • 135 mm for 127 mm slats.
    • 97 mm for 89 mm slats.
  • Note any obstructions, such as handles or locks.

2. Measure Your Width

  • Measure the exact width inside the window frame, across the top.
  • Do not make any deductions—we’ll adjust for the perfect fit.

3. Measure Your Drop

  • Measure the exact height inside the window frame, from top to bottom.

4. Choose Your Wand or Chain Side

  • Decide which side you want the wand or chain on. Pick the side that is easiest to use and clear of obstructions.

Outside the Frame (Face Fit)

Vertical blinds that sit outside the frame are called face fit.

  • Installed on the window frame facing you.
  • Perfect for sliding doors and large windows.
  • Minimises light gaps on the sides.
  • Great for covering chunky obstructions.

Follow these simple steps to measure your blinds:

1. Measure Your Width

  • Measure the exact width of the area you want to cover, across the top of your window frame.
  • Add 60 mm to 100 mm on both sides to reduce light gaps and increase privacy.
  • Example: If your window measures 1810 mm, add 200 mm and provide a total of 2010 mm.

2. Measure Your Drop

  • Option A: Measure from the top of your frame to where you want the blinds to finish (e.g., the bottom of the frame or above the floor).
  • Option B: For shorter windows, measure 50 mm to 100 mm below the sill.
  • Option C: For full-length windows, measure to 10 mm above the floor for clearance.

3. Choose Your Wand or Chain Side

  • Decide which side you want the wand or chain on. Choose the side that is easiest to reach and free of obstructions.

4. Place Your Order

  • You're all set! Submit your measurements and order your custom vertical blinds online.

Installation Guide

Step 1: Position the Brackets

  • Recess Fit: Place end brackets at least 100 mm in from each end. Space any middle brackets evenly.
  • Face Fit: Position brackets evenly across the frame or wall. If the track overhangs the frame, align the end brackets with the edges of the architrave.

Step 2: Install the Brackets

  • Use screws provided for wood surfaces. For other surfaces, ensure you have the correct screws and drill bits.
  • Chain Drive Bracket: Install on the side where you want the operating chain.
  • Pin End Bracket: Install on the opposite side.

Step 3: Install the Slats

  • Attach slats by hooking them into the track. Ensure they are evenly spaced.

Step 4: Install the Child-Safe Cord Tensioner

  • Australian safety laws require a cord tensioner if the chain hangs less than 1.6m from the floor.
  • Position the tensioner at the bottom of the chain loop and secure it to the frame or wall.
