Roman Blind Guide

Measuring Guide

General Measuring Tips:

  • Use a metal tape measure for accuracy.
  • Always measure in millimetres.
  • Decide whether you want the blinds to hang inside the recess or outside the frame.
  • Check for obstructions like furniture, walls, or window handles.

    Recess Fit – Inside Mount

    Steps to Measure:

    1. Measure the recess width in three places (top, middle, and bottom) and record the shortest measurement.
    2. Measure the drop in three places and record the shortest measurement.

    Important Notes:

    • A 5 mm tolerance is allowed.
    • The fabric width will be 5 mm narrower than the bracket measurement.

    Face Fit – Outside Mount

    Steps to Measure:

    1. Measure the exact width of the window frame.
    2. Add 40 mm - 100 mm to each side to reduce gaps and improve light control.
      • Example: If the width is 1810 mm, adding 200 mm gives you a total of 2010 mm.
    3. Measure the drop from the top to the desired bottom point.

    Important Notes:

    • Provide exact measurements as no allowance is made.

    Measuring the Drop

    1. Measure from the top of the frame to where you'd like the blind to finish.
    2. Recommendation: Add 100 mm - 150 mm to the drop to mount the blind above the architrave, allowing the window to be fully visible when the blind is raised.
      • Example: A drop of 1200 mm becomes 1300 mm when adding 100 mm.
    3. For shorter windows: Extend the drop 50 mm - 100 mm below the sill.
    4. For full-length windows: Measure to 20 mm off the floor. For drops over 2410 mm, leave a 30 mm clearance.

    Additional Consideration:

Make a note of which side you'd like your cord or chain on. Consider which side is easiest to reach, obstruction-free, and where it will be least visible.

    Installation Guide

    1. Bracket Placement:

      • Position the brackets ensuring they are level and secure.

      2. Fabric Attachment:

        • Attach the fabric to the headrail and ensure it aligns correctly.
