Aluminium Venetian Blind Guide

Measuring Guide

General Measuring Tips:

  • For accurate measurements, use a metal tape measure.
  • Always measure in millimetres.
  • Choose whether you want the blinds to hang inside the recess or outside the window frame.
  • Check for obstructions such as adjacent walls, furniture, or window handles when measuring.

Recess Fit – Inside Mount

This is when you want your blind to fit inside the window recess for a finished look.

Steps to Measure:

  1. Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in 3 places.
  2. Note down the shortest measurement.
  3. Measure the drop from the top of the recess to the window sill in 3 places.
  4. Note down the shortest measurement – this is the one you should use.

Important Notes:

  • Standard factory allowances will be made:
    • Width: 5 mm deduction.
    • Drop: 10 mm deduction.

Face Fit – Outside Mount

Outside mounts are fitted to the architrave and can make windows appear larger. This method is also useful for hiding unattractive architraves.

Steps to Measure:

  1. Measure the desired blind width where you'd like it to be mounted. Note down the measurement.
  2. Measure the drop: From the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom.
  3. Note down the measurement.

Important Notes:

  • If your window doesn’t have architraves, it is recommended to add between 75 mm to 100 mm on each side to minimize light.
  • No allowances will be made; the blind will be made to the exact sizes supplied.

Installation Guide

1. Bracket Placement:

    • Measure where you require the blind to hang (either inside or outside the recess).
    • Position the end brackets for fixing (either face or top). Ensure that the brackets are fixed approximately 5 cm from the end of the blind.
    • For blinds exceeding 100 cm in width, a centre bracket is required and should be positioned as necessary.
    • Important: Make sure not to position the brackets where they interfere with the working mechanisms of the blind.

2. Fabric and Mechanism Attachment:

    • Present the blind to the bracket, ensuring that the lugs position snugly under the front rim of the headrail.
    • Push the locking arm until it is pressed against the headrail.
    • Insert the bottom rail into the pin of the hold-down bracket (optional).

    To Operate the Blind

    Lowering:

    1. Hold the cord at eye level and move it to the left, pulling gently until the cord lock releases.
    2. Allow the cord to slip through your fingers until the blind reaches the desired level.
    3. Move the lift cord to the right and release it; the blind will lock automatically.

    Raising:

    1. Pull the cord downward until the blind reaches the desired height.
    2. Release the cord; the blind will lock automatically.

    Tilting:

    • Rotate the 'wand' of the blind to achieve the desired slat position.

    Important:

    • Always tilt the blind horizontally before raising or lowering it.
